One Last Ride   - Southern Yellow Pine and resin coffee table

This old Southern Yellow Pine slab was commissioned to be made into a coffee table.  This slab started its life as a ramp to move motorcycles in and out of the customers truck and will now take a spot in their home as a place to sit and talk about motorcycles! We maintained its rustic charm and  created a faux live edge while complimenting the nature edge that was available. All the voids were filled with multiple colors of blue epoxy resin.  

Even the legs are very Unique.  Most companies that make live edge or river tables will use 3^rd party off-the-shelf steel legs.  We design and build our steel legs in-house to compliment the top and be truly one-of-a-kind! In keeping with the motorcycle theme, we wanted the legs to look like a new exhaust after it's first long ride.  First we decorated the steel using an abrasive disc. Then we used a technique called "hot-blueing" to create the coloration in the steel. This makes colors from straw and yellowish gold to blue and purple.  The was then steel was coated to prevent rusting and then buffed out to a shine.   The leg includes a brass tag engraved with the pieces name; serial number; date; and signature of the artist.
