Maple Cookie Table

Spalted Maple Cookie Table      -  Decorative coffee table  

Made from a single round slab of broad leaf Maple, this custom live-edge table is unique in that the bark is still on the edge.  Although it made it more difficult to work with, it really adds to the visual appearance and defines the edge.  

The spalting in this tree is incredible and very striking.  The colors ran the gamut from pink, orange, and yellow with pencil line black.  The more you look at it, the more you see. You can even sit and count the growth rings. Complimenting the spalting is various shades of blue epoxy resin to fill the voids. 

An interesting aspect of this build was finding a .38 caliber bullet embedded into the tree. Unfortunately my router bit found it during flattening before I did.  A portion of it was left in the tree as a conversation piece.  

Finishing this beautiful piece are handmade custom legs of our own design featuring adjustable feet, finished in a flat black.
